Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten
By popular demand, I have created a shorter version of my 45 minute class. The material is identical, but the phonics and math portions have been eliminated.
In this 25 minute ongoing class, students will be introduced to the basic social and academic skills needed to prepare for Kindergarten. Students will be given the opportunity to move around via song and dance during calendar. I do my best to give each student an opportunity to speak and participate throughout the lesson. I attempt to leave everyone unmuted, but often mute to eliminate background noise and distraction. There will not be any homework, but I often provide optional activities to do outside of class.

Each lesson will consist of:
- Daily greeting
- Name identification
- Calendar time( days of the week, months of the year, seasons...)
- Seasonal Unit( fire safety, holidays, etc.)

- Calendar: I will present a visual calendar via Starfall.com. Students will learn a song for the months of the year, days of the week, seasons, and weather. We will explore holidays, seasons, and weather patterns as well.
- Phonics: Students will begin learning sight words from the primer Dolch word list. Students will learn to say, read, spell, and identify a 2-3 sight words each week.
- Math: Math lessons will differ each week. Please see the semester plans below for detailed lessons.

- Themed Units: This portion will consist of seasonal activities. Students will engage in social studies, science, writing, and art activities.
