Description
Class Experience
In this one-time class, preschool and kindergarten aged learners will explore STEAM concepts and explore the sun! Through slideshows, class discussion and a hands on learning activity students will learn all about the sun; from what the sun is, to what sunburns are, and sun protection. Learners will then have the opportunity to do some hands-on learning by creating art with sunscreen and watching the affect the sun has on sunscreen and non-sunscreen. We will also discuss science safety and...
Students will improve their knowledge of STEM concept, as well as explore sun safety.
Learners will be required to put the art created in class, in the sun for a few hours to see the effects of the sun and sunscreen. Learners are encouraged to share their results via the classroom page!
- Sunscreen - Paint Brush - Black or dark coloured construction paper - Rocks to weigh down the art outside
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Learners will complete a short, interactive group quiz, through class discussion and slideshow to gauge the learners' understanding of science safety prior to starting our experiment.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Parental guidance and assistance may be required during our hands-on learning activities. Due to OS policy parents must remain off camera. I will be using Canva to create the PowerPoint used in class. Learners will not need an account or to even visit the website, as I will be using screenshare to share the material.
