In this engaging one time class, learners will have fun listening to a book about the planets, participating in a reading comprehension discussion, writing about the planets, and drawing the solar system!
Class experience
If you love space and want to learn more about the planets in our solar system, this is the class for you! Learners will begin class with a quick ice breaker to help them get to know each other! They can bring a planet toy or picture of a planet to class so that they can share what they know about the planets with others. . We will read a book about the planets called, "Planets" by Elizabeth Carney. Learners will be encouraged to share their knowledge, ask questions, and make connections...
Learners will be able to practice their speaking skills by sharing their knowledge of the planets. Learners will improve their reading comprehension and vocabulary by listening to an interesting text. Learners will be able to use their creativity and fine motor skills to draw the planets. Learners will practice their writing skills by writing in complete sentences. Learners will use their imaginations to think of a story about the planets or their background knowledge to write fun facts about the planets.
2 files available upon enrollmentLearners will need paper and art supplies, such as pencils, colored pencils, crayons, or markers. Learners may chose to bring a picture of a planet or a planet toy to class to share at the beginning. Learners will get a coloring sheet that is completely optional.
