Class Experience

How do you get bells? What do you do with them once you have them? How can you make the best choices for yourself with your money? We'll explore these 5 foundational ideas of financial literacy (choice-making, wants vs needs, credit, debt, investing and interest) as they appear in the game Animal Crossing New Horizons. Students will talk about how they use their bells in the game, what the best ways to use their bells are and the differences between spending bells and spending money in real life.

Learning Goals

1. We make choices with our money.
2. There are some things we want and some things we need.
3. Credit is means borrowing from someone else. You have to pay those things back.
4. When you used credit, you are in debt. You work to pay off debt.
5. You can earn interest on money you invest.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I'm Ms. Samantha and I'm so excited to have fun learning with you! My classes are focused in literacy, pre-literacy and the dramatic arts. I've been teaching full time in a brick and mortar setting since 2014 and worked with kids long before that. I believe kids learn best when they don't even know they're learning; they think they're just having fun! That's why all of my classes follow a researched-backed scope and sequence and are made up of lots of fun and laughter. When I'm not teaching, I love to read books and snuggle with my goofy dog, Onyx!
