US Grade 4 - 7
In this class, we will discover the following: - Different types of spiders and how they are classified - Venomous spiders - What spiders eat - How spiders see - Where common types of spiders live This is the perfect exploration class as an introduction to spiders. We will learn about different types of spiders across the world, and end with record setting spiders! Your student will learn about tarantulas, yellow sac spiders, Brazilian wandering spiders, wolf spiders, widow spiders, jumping spiders, and much more. The atmosphere of this class is very laid back and conversational. It is meant to be an exploratory course for kids who are interested in spiders. I have a prepared powerpoint presentation that we will go through together, and a few different national geographic kids articles with extended information. If your student is highly interested in one part of the class, I will refer them to these articles for more study! Please Note: If you don't see a section that is available below and works with your schedule, please send me a message - I will work with you to find a time that works!
Learning Goals
Students will demonstrate understanding of spider classifications, habitats, diet, and vision.

I am currently a research fellow, earning my PhD in education at the University of Oklahoma. The specialty of my research is to arm students with skills and knowledge to transition from school and into adulthood - no matter what age, it is never too early or too late! I also serve as a military reservist, Lieutenant in the US Coast Guard.
I earned my associate degree in child psychology, then my bachelor of science in education from Liberty University, and then my master of science in special education from Johns Hopkins University.
I teach classes that are based on real-life experience and literature. If a student can connect a concept to an experience, then they are engaging in valuable learning!
For example, my one on one tutoring sessions typically involve the interest of a student (ex. cooking), and my lesson will be constructed around famous chefs/ bakers from history, utilizing math and science skills, even marketing, business, and finance, as these play a role in a career or hobby surrounding cooking.
Please message me with any specific concerns or requests for your child, and let's get started!
