All About Rocks! (Ages 8-12)

In this one time 30-minute course, we will be learning all about the foundations of geology: Rocks! We will be covering the different types of rocks (Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic), how they formed, the rock cycle, and how to identify rocks. Learners will be encouraged to ask questions and discuss amongst themselves about the different types of rocks they have seen. By the end of this course, students will be able to differentiate between the different rock types and know how they would have formed as well as some minerals that make up the rocks.
I have both an Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science in Earth Science, with a focus on paleontology and have worked as both a tour guide and researcher for a UNESCO world heritage site.
Learners should bring a rock (any rock) to the class as the goal by the end will be for them to identify their rock based on the class.
