As a fellow reptile nerd, I understand the fascination with reptiles and their amazing traits. During this class, we are going to discuss all the interesting traits of crocodilians, turtles and tortoises, snakes, and lizards. Reptiles are often misunderstood, so in this class, we will debunk reptile myths and create a healthy understanding of why reptiles are important. My teaching style is upbeat and welcoming. We will have live reptiles in this class so students feel connected to the topic...
Students will improve their understanding of what classifies a reptile. Once this foundation is laid, we will discuss each reptile group such as crocodilians, squamates (lizards and snakes), and turtles/tortoises. Each group of reptiles has its own adaptations and characteristics that allow them to survive. By using live reptiles we will come to appreciate reptiles and their uniqueness in the animal kingdom.
