All About Precalculus Semester Course Self-Paced
Class experience
US Grade 8 - 11
In this flexible schedule class, students will build upon their knowledge of algebra to prepare for higher math courses. This course will be a continuation of the concepts learned in my All About Algebra 2 class (https://outschool.com/classes/all-about-algebra-2-semester-course-flex-CTsnPfmt?usid=T6Fyr9ph&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link), but students who have prior knowledge of Algebra 2 are welcome to join. This class does not have any live meetings. Although this class does...

Week 1Lesson 1Introduction to Different Functions, Domain and Range, TransformationsStudents will learn a variety of different functions and how to describe the domain and range. Students will perform transformations on different functions.Week 2Lesson 2Absolute Value, Inverse FunctionsStudents will review absolute value functions. Students will be able to solve inverse functions algebraically and graph them.Week 3Lesson 3Linear Functions, Word Problems, Linear Regression ModelsStudents will be able to graph linear functions using a word problem. Students will perform linear regression models to analyze data.Week 4Lesson 4Polynomial Functions, Complex NumbersStudents will be able to graph polynomial functions and solve expressions with complex numbers.Week 5Lesson 5Rational Functions, Radical Functions, InequalitiesStudents will be able to graph rational and radical functions. Students will be able to graph inequalities.Week 6Lesson 6Review WeekStudents will review certain topics at teacher discretion.Week 7Lesson 7Logarithmic and Exponential FunctionsStudents will learn to solve and graph logarithmic and exponential functions.Week 8Lesson 8Trigonometric Functions, Right Triangles, Unit CircleStudents will learn the different trigonometric functions and how they relate to right triangles and the Unit Circle.Week 9Lesson 9Graphs of Trigonometric Functions, Inverse of Trigonometric FunctionsStudents will graph trigonometric functions and their inverses.Week 10Lesson 10Trigonometric Identities, Formulas, and EquationsStudents will solve various trigonometric identity problems.Week 11Lesson 11Review and More Trig IdentitiesStudents will continue working on trigonometric identity problems.Week 12Lesson 12Systems of EquationsStudents will graph problems to solve systems of equations.Week 13Lesson 13Conic Sections, Circles, Ellipses, Hyperbola, ParabolaStudents will learn how to graph and write equations for conic sections.Week 14Lesson 14Geometric and Arithmetic SequencesStudents will write and solve equations for geometric and arithmetic sequences.Week 15Lesson 15Review and Final ExamStudents will review material at teacher discretion and complete the final exam.
I have taught these concepts in a traditional school setting for many years. I have tutored many levels of math, including Precalculus for approximately ten years.
Homework Offered
Students will have math practice problems each week either on a worksheet or the online platform MyOpenMath. This practice is imperative to mastery of the concepts. They must also post questions and respond to their peers. They will also post a video explanation of a practice problem approximately every other week. Students will also have projects to show their mastery of the various functions we will be studying.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
There will be short assessments most weeks to review the concepts. There will also be projects. At the end of the course there will be a final assessment. Per parent request, I can provide grades for the classwork and assessments if needed for a credit.Grades Offered
