In this one time class students will learn how to play Major and Minor chords and then Jam along to Miley Cyrus' Flowers. Perfect for neurodivergent learners who just want to play without reading music! And any student that wants to level up their piano playing with chords. ************* W H Y L E A R N C H O R D S ? 🤔 🤔 🤫 Chords are like the secret ingredient that adds flavour to your piano playing. They help create a rich and full sound that makes your music come alive! With chords, you can jam along to your favourite songs and you can use them to add harmonies to your own songs and express your thoughts and feelings through music. Different chords have different flavours. W H A T T O E X P E C T ✅ In this one time class, students will learn what chords are and how to make and play major and minor chords on the piano. ✅ Students will learn about chords in 2 ways: listening and calculating with half step patterns. ✅ Learners do not need to be able to read music for this class, but they should at least know the names of all the white notes on the piano (example, D is between the 2 black keys) ✅ Please bring along 3 small objects you can put on the piano (small erasers, lego pieces, etc). The object should fit on a white or black key without falling. I'm a neurodivergent piano teacher with over 20 years experience teaching, a BA in psychology and a special interest in neurodiversity and how we learn! When I was a piano student, I wasn't really taught much about chords. It's not until I started guitar lessons in high school that I learned all about chords and chord progressions and I LOVED it!! And it got me wondering, why don't we teach piano like this? So now I teach what I wish I was taught! Jamming out to your favourite songs is not just for guitarists, it's for all musicians!
