Are you interested in becoming a music therapist or learning more about what they do? In this one-time course, students will learn all about music therapy from a Board-Certified Music Therapist. Dr. Emily Lloyd is a music therapist who has been working in her field for over 7 years. She is passionate about her profession and passionate about sharing it! We will cover the following topics and answer the questions below. Students will receive worksheets to fill out during class as we discuss this material. 1. What is music therapy? We will discuss the definition of music therapy. 2. What do music therapists do? We will discuss treatment plans, goals, objectives, and what those look like in music therapy. 3. Who do music therapists work with? We will discuss the different populations that music therapists work with and watch a few videos of music therapists working with certain populations. 4. What are some examples of activities used in music therapy? We will participate in several different music activities that showcase the skills needed to be a music therapist. 5. How does one become a music therapist? We will discuss the schooling and training required to become a board-certified music therapist.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a board-certified music therapist with over 7 years of experience; I have worked with many different populations including individuals with special needs, veterans, and the elderly. I also have doctorate (Michigan State University), masters (Southern Methodist University), and bachelor's degrees (University of Georgia) in music and currently teach at the college level.
