Beginner Level
In this one time class, the learners will listen to a story called I Like Myself by Karen Beaumont. The learners will be encouraged to interact with the reading and practice making text to self connections. The learners will then create a directed drawing of a mirror and their face using their listening skills and creative talents. We will work on adding color and patterns in art. They will be encouraged to share their final project with other learners, if they feel comfortable doing so. ...
-Students will use listening skills by hearing a story and focusing on reasons why they are unique and special. ~Students will learn to make text to self connections. -Students will use creative skills by drawing and coloring a mirror with their face reflecting back. -Students will use patterning skills to decorate the mirrors. ~Students will interact with other students.
Students will need paper and crayons or colored pencils.
