In this 4-week flexible schedule course, students will dive into the world of marine mammals. Students will learn all about whales, dolphins, walruses, manatees, seals, and more! Each week will focus on a particular category of marine mammals. The interactive video lessons will integrate vocabulary relating to marine mammals and their habitat. I will be utilizing Edpuzzle to make each video interactive with questions popping up through the video. The presentation is full of information and clear and interesting pictures. There will be postings during the week with discussions and activities that the students can respond to throughout the week. Below is a breakdown of the weekly lesson outline: (Please note, some of these overlap with the Interesting Mammals of the World course) Week 1: Define: marine mammal Topic: Dolphins (learning about 8 different types of dolphins) -Bottlenose Dolphin, Orca, Spinner Dolphin, Heaviside's Dolphin, Baiji, Striped Dolphin, Amazon River Dolphin, and Hourglass Dolphin Week 2: All about whales! (learning about 8 different types of whales) -Sperm Whale, Fin Whale, Bowhead Whale, Minke Whale, Bryde's Whale, Sei Whale, Blue Whale, and Right Whale Week 3: Combination of: -Narwhal, Harbor Porpoise, Narrow-Ridged Finless Porpoise, Beluga Whale, Leopard Seal, Hawaiian Monk Seal, Southern Elephant Seals, and Walrus Week 4: Combination of: -Dugong, Manatee, Polar Bear, Sea otter, Hooded Seal, Dall's Porpoise, California Sea Lion, and Ribbon Seal Each week, there will be a Quizlet game posted in the classroom that students will have the option of completing to remember facts and vocabulary that they are learning in each class. All About Dolphins!
This week learners will learn what defines a marine mammal and learn about 8 different types of dolphins: Bottlenose Dolphin, Orca, Spinner Dolphin, Heaviside's Dolphin, Baiji, Striped Dolphin, Amazon River Dolphin, and Hourglass Dolphin.
Lesson 2:
All About Whales
We will continue our dive into marine mammals by learning about whales (toothed and baleen): Sperm Whale, Fin Whale, Bowhead Whale, Minke Whale, Bryde's Whale, Sei Whale, Blue Whale, and Right Whale.
Lesson 3:
Combination of Marine Mammals (Part 1)
Now that we have a solid understanding of Whales and Dolphins, we will branch out into other types of Marine Mammals: Narwhal, Harbor Porpoise, Narrow-Ridged Finless Porpoise, Beluga Whale, Leopard Seal, Hawaiian Monk Seal, Southern Elephant Seals, and Walrus.
Lesson 4:
Combination of Marine Mammals (Part 2)
We will continue learning about various marine mammals and their traits: Dugong, Manatee, Polar Bear, Sea otter, Hooded Seal, Dall's Porpoise, California Sea Lion, and Ribbon Seal.

I'm Kristin, and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to meet your learner(s)! I am a certified teacher with a B.S. Ed. in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. With years of experience teaching both in the classroom and online, I bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to my teaching.
In addition to teaching, I'm a business owner and have a background as a horseback riding instructor, which adds a unique perspective to my approach. My teaching philosophy centers around not just imparting knowledge, but inspiring a love of learning. I believe that when learners develop a genuine curiosity, they are motivated to grow, succeed, and eventually inspire others.
I create a classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, and supportive of all learners, regardless of their abilities. I'm experienced in tailoring lessons to meet individual needs and learning preferences, ensuring that every student feels confident and engaged. My teaching covers a broad range of subjects, with a particular focus on literature, life skills, nature, history, and geography.
Outside of the classroom, I have a variety of personal passions: horseback riding (both English and Western styles), reading, playing guitar, dancing, dog training, learning new languages, and exploring the world through travel. I love incorporating students' passions into their learning journey and am always open to hearing feedback, ideas, and preferences to make the learning experience even more meaningful.
