Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will be introduced to JavaScript and learn the foundations of the language. This allows them to confidently move onto more complex code and continue their coding journey. The class is also intended to encourage students to get excited about the possibilities of coding and computer science!
I’ve been a professional developer for nearly a decade. In the past I've worked for Dell, Apple, Best Buy, and the Government of New Zealand. Over the last 4 years, I’ve been teaching and mentoring aspiring junior developers.
There are optional practice challenges and review questions that every student is encouraged to complete. These usually take about 1 – 2 hours per week.
Students will use the p5.js free code editor for the course. This code editor works on any computer, including Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chromebooks. Unfortunately, functionality is limited on tablets such as iPads. The Mozilla Developer Network is a free JavaScript resource website that students can utilize. ****Students will need to be very comfortable typing and know how to copy/paste on their device.*********
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
