30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
US Grade 3 - 6
In this one time 30 min class we will be learning all about the first rocks to form: the igneous rocks. We will discuss how they form, the different types of igneous rocks, where they come from, and why they are important. We will also learn how to identify different igneous rocks through their texture and the types of minerals they are made of. Learners will be encouraged to ask questions and discuss amongst themselves about the different types of rocks they have seen. No prior knowledge or experience is required for this class, but my All About Rocks or Volcanoes classes would provide a great background for understanding the exciting world of igneous rocks. This class is the first in a series of four standalone classes on the different types of rocks.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about igneous rocks, how they form and what makes them special.
