Beginner Level
In this one time class, the students will listen to a non fiction book about Honeybees called It's A Good Thing There Are Bees by Lisa M. Herrington. During the research part of the class, the students will be encouraged to add to the discussion by telling bee facts they learned from the book. The students will then create a step by step directed drawing of a Honeybee complete with labels and facts. The students will be able to identify things people use that were made from beeswax. The students will identify the body parts of a Honeybee and will be able to tell the life cycle of a Honeybee. When they are finished, they will have an All About Honeybee research project good enough to hang on the wall for all to see!

Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom.
My name is Betty Nilssen. 💕
I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade, full inclusive classrooms. My teaching license certifies me to teach grades 1~6. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power. I can support your young learner.
I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers. My mom was also an educator.
There are so many books to read, words and sentences to write, math equations to solve and fiction and non fiction pictures to draw and label. Let's get started!
Enroll your Early Childhood Education student and your child will further develop an academic foundation and gain academic confidence with a love of learning. Your child will be a life long reader!
Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or if you are looking for different times or dates for classes.
I can't wait to work with you and your child and further a passion for learning!
