Class Experience

In this class, students will get an introduction to the care of gargoyle geckos. Gargoyle geckos are a great beginner pet for reptile enthusiasts and will be a cherished addition to your family! We will go over the key aspects of animal care: where they live, what they eat, how is their behavior, and how to keep them clean and healthy. My co-presenter will be Luna, a 3-year old gecko, to give students a peek into the life of a reptile! This is a lecture-style class where participants will be encouraged to ask questions and give feedback. Come see if a gargoyle is right for you!

Learning Goals

Students will get a basic understanding of gargoyle geckos to see if they are the right pet for them.

Hello everyone!

My name is Cynthia Gonzalez. I am a graduate of Mount Holyoke College where I majored in Theatre and minored in Film. I am an avid lover of stories and storytelling and have studied many different forms of it. I know a good story whether it is in the performing arts, the written arts, or the visual arts. In my profile, you will find classes on acting, musical theatre, Shakespeare, film, art, and animation.

I am an educator who has worked with students from ages 7 to 15 tutoring in English, Drama, and Art. I was a tutor for two years in two different after-school programs where I supported my students in their enrichment classes in gardening, cooking, music, and dance. I was also an online ESL teacher for young children in China where I learned the benefits of using puppets to communicate when you don't speak your student's language!

I believe that every child has the potential to succeed in whatever subject they wish. My teaching philosophy is that learning must be engaging and every lesson should leave the student excited to learn more. I achieve this by connecting with my students so I can best learn how they learn.

A few facts about me is that I absolutely adore gothic and tragic romances. I have watched countless adaptations of Romeo and Juliet and Phantom of the Opera but I also have a soft spot for musicals and animated films. My ideal way of winding down is sitting with some Ben N'Jerry's and a 90's Disney Film. I aspire to create my own stories and am usually working on a screenplay or novel idea.
