What's included

3 in-class hoursClass Experience
This class will provide a thorough overview of "indie" filmmaking all the way from concept to completion! While we won't be making our own movies, students will certainly be encouraged to do so, and this course will be a means of equipping them with the tools they need. Session 1 — Ideas! We'll discuss what makes a great idea, the importance of audiences, what makes stories compelling, and how to write a screenplay (format, story arc), and we'll take a look at how to use the screenwriting software Final Draft. Session 2 — Pre-production! We'll talk about the important parts of getting ready, such as storyboarding, casting, crewing up, budgeting and finding locations. Session 3 — Production! Now comes the nitty-gritty of actually making a movie, including what it's like to be on set, to direct, to act, and what the different team members do on set. Session 4 — Post-production! So now you've made your movie; what's next? Now comes what some might say is the most fun part: editing, color-correcting, sound editing, and scoring (music). We'll take a look at how to use the editing program Adobe Premiere.
