Mastery Evaluation
1 hour per week. Students will take a EF Skill Questionnaire to find their personal EF strengths and areas for improvement. Learners will need to send the answers to their questionnaire to the EF coach to receive the results and personalized suggestions. The Questionnaire is from Dawson and Guare (2017). Class Experience

In this course we will learn what Executive Functioning is and how we use it daily to get things done.  Topics will include:
Planning
Organization
Self Awareness
Task Initiation
Time Management
Inhibition
Vision and Goal Setting
Evaluating Priorities

We will learn about each skill, it's importance and tips on how to improve each in relation to homework, school work and completing chores.  

Learners will be able to take a EF skill questionnaire to find their personal strengthens and weaknesses.  Learners can send their results to the EF coach for a personalized report on strengths and areas to focus on improvement.  

Throughout the course, students will be given a variety of tools to try, such as organizers, planners.

Learning Goals

Students will learn what Executive Function skills are.
Students will learn about planning, organization, self-awareness, task initiation, inhibition, time management, vision and goal setting and evaluation of priorities.

Syllabus

4 Lessons
over 4 Weeks
Lesson 1:
What is Executive Functioning?
 In this lesson, we will learn about what Executive Functioning is and how we use it in all part of our life to get things done.  We will learn about the EF skills that make up Executive Functioning and start to break down the first two skills, planning and organization. 
Lesson 2:
The EF Skills: Why we need to use them and how to improve
 In this lesson, we will review what Executive Functioning is.  We will then learn in detail the importance if the following skills along with ways to improve each: Initiation, Self Awareness, Inhibition, Time Management, and Vision and Goal Setting. 
Lesson 3:
What can I Control?
 In this lesson, we will learn about the final EF skill, Evaluating Priorities.  We will then discuss the idea of "what can I control?" and how can my EF skills help me.  We will also take an EF skill questionnaire to find out your personal strengths and weaknesses.  You can send your results to Angela, the EF coach, for  a personalized report on your strengths and weaknesses and what you can focus on improving. 
Lesson 4:
Even More EF Tips and Tricks
 In this final lesson we will review all we have learned in the course.  We will then learn even more tips and tricks to improve our EF skills to make school work, homework and chores easier to complete.

Learning Needs
This course is for all learners, especially those struggling with Executive Functioning and ADHD.
Supply List
A handout for each lesson will be provided, but is not needed.  Students will only need paper and something to write with.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello! My name is Angela.  I am a certified Executive Function Coach and NJ Special Education Teacher.  I have bachelors degrees in Elementary Education and Psychology as well as a Master's degree in Education.  I love to help kids learn more about how they learn.  Learning about Executive Functioning can help kids with their planning, organization, time management, task initiation and so much more.  I love to work with learners of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.  I most often work with students with ADHD to improve their EF skills.
