Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
In this interactive flexible schedule class, students will be learning about 40 different dog breeds. They will learn about some of the smallest, largest, and rarest dog breeds!

Each week, we will focus on 10 dog breeds. The lessons will include lots of pictures, facts, and information about each dog breed. The learners will discover how big, small, or unique the dogs are. We will review size, temperament, history, care tips, and more for each dog breed. Each week, there will be an interactive instruction video posted, a Quizlet activity to practice recognizing the dog breeds, weekly discussion posts where the students are able to respond to the lesson with other learners, and weekly share post where students are able to share what pets they have or want, favorite books books about dogs, dogs they have seen that week, and favorite dog breed. As the teacher, I will be quick to respond to and monitor all discussions posts, share posts, and student responses on our classroom page.

In all of my flexible schedule courses, I make sure to be a very active part of guiding this class and interacting with the students. This is a flexible scheduled course so that the students will be able to complete the lessons at their own pace. There are no due dates except the fact that the class ends on a certain date. The instructional videos created by me will teach the dog breeds each week are interactive and will have pop up questions (using Edpuzzle) throughout to check for understanding. Welcome! My name is Kristin, and I am so excited to meet your learner(s)! I am a certified teacher with a B.S. Ed. in Early Childhood Education and in Special Education. I have many years of both classroom teaching and online teaching experience. Outside of Outschool, I am a business owner and I was a horse riding instructor. My philosophy of teaching is not just imparting knowledge to the learner. Instead, I believe that it more important to inspire learners to love learning, while imparting new knowledge. It is the love of learning that will drive a person to grow, succeed, and inspire others. My classroom is a safe place for all learners of all abilities. I am very experienced in accommodating the needs and preferences of each learner. As a teacher, it is my job to make sure that all students are learning, encouraged, and successful in my classroom. As a teacher, I have taught all classroom subjects, therefore, I have a variety of class options. My focus is on literature, life skills, nature, history, and geography. Beyond teaching, some of my personal passions include horseback riding (English and Western styles), reading, playing guitar, dancing, training dogs, learning new languages, and traveling. What is your learner’s passion? I love to be able to incorporate students' interests into their learning experience. I am always open to hearing your feedback, ideas, and preferences. I hope to see your learner(s) soon!
