Butterflies are beautiful and fascinating creatures. In this class, we will learn all about butterflies. We will talk about how the evolve from an egg to butterfly. Students will learn what butterflies eat and how some species migrate. During our discussion, we will look at pictures and diagram of butterflies. We will also watch videos. Students will be able to identify different parts of the butterflies and compare different butterfly species. After we learn all about butterflies, we will use coffee filters and washable markers to create our own gorgeous butterflies. Students will be encouraged to share their butterfly creations with their classmates. I hope you will join me for a fun and colorful butterfly adventure!
Learning Goals
Students will be able to identify the metamorphosis process as well as the body parts of butterflies.
Students will be able to visually compare different butterfly species.

Supply List
To create their butterflies students will need the following: - coffee filters (at least two) - washable markers - a pipe cleaner

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
As a teacher and mom to five young children, I like to curate a child's curiosity about the world around them. My children and I love to visit a local butterfly sanctuary where we have learned all about these fascinating creatures and I can't wait to share what we have learned with you.
