Is your learner wild about axolotls? Here is their chance to meet a real live axolotl animal ambassador at each class! We will discuss all the fun facts about them and their wild counterparts, learn about their natural history, the perils they face, how to be a keeper to an axolotl if they want to have one as a pet one day, and why scientists are so interested in them. At the end of each class, we'll have a discussion about what was learned in class & students could ask their questions, while watching me feed an axolotl some treats. Please note: This class is taught with PowerPoint in the first part of the class and then there will be a Q&A session, where learners can ask questions, while watching live axolotls be fed. Each class will have a handout that corresponds with the lesson. With over 20 years of caring for axolotls in zoos, aquariums, and rescues, these are my absolute favorite animal to share with others. If your learner has axolotl toys, t-shirts, costumes, they are most welcome! No experience required for this course. Age range is flexible.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about axolotls, from their importance to pop culture, the role in their native habitat, how they are helping the medical field, and how to take care of them if a student would like one as a pet.
