In this science class, learners will be introduced to the chemical composition of our atmosphere. We will discuss important molecules that make up the air we breathe and learn about its physical properties with hands-on examples.

Explore the chemistry of our atmosphere in this engaging one-time class! In this one time science class, learners will discuss the chemical composition of air. We will learn about the most abundant atoms and molecules that make up our atmosphere and look at how these molecules interact with each other, living things and with our planet. This class will also cover the physical properties of air, demonstrated with some hands-on experiments. Learners will be able to explain that air has mass and can exert pressure. Learners will also learn how air is affected by temperature and altitude. Learners should have a basic knowledge of atoms and molecules before taking this class.
Learning Goals
Learners will be able to name the main chemical components of Earth's atmosphere. They will be able to describe several physical properties of air.Learners will explore the 6 physical properties of air through hands-on demonstrations.
Other Details
Supply List
Learners will be provided with a description of how to complete the demonstrations that we complete in class. It is suggested that learners complete these after class for a more thorough understanding of the topics we discuss.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
