All Aboard the Train! Singing & Story Time
What's included
1 live meeting
25 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This is an early childhood music and storytime class in a print-rich and prop-filled environment. We will start with a welcome where I'll show them their name card, and practice the first letter and sound in their name. I'll give each student a chance to share with the class a toy or object on the theme, like a toy train, or a book about trains. Next, we will sing a 'hello' song together. I'll sing a phrase and the students will echo. We will check in with our emotions and feelings, and we'll watch a brief video with Blippi about trains and we'll ride on a train with him in the video. Then I'll introduce and read the rhyming storybook, "The Train to Timbuctoo" by Margaret Wise Brown. I'll ask questions and encourage interaction. After the story, we'll get up on our feet, move our bodies, and sing to a train song. To close the class, I'll teach the students a simple 'goodbye' song.
Learning Goals
This class will strengthen social/emotional development, reading comprehension skills, coordination and large motor development. It will increase creativity and imagination and allow for self-expression. Music and reading improve and enhance language development and school readiness.
