Description

Class Experience

We will focus on the sense of sight and discuss how a writer uses words to paint a picture of what they see, enabling the reader to see with words what is described.
We will discuss how to record details and how to use similes for vivid details.
Students will see how important their words are in expressing their thoughts to others.
I am offering this class because I enjoy exploring creative expression with children. I have worked with children in grades K-7, reading and writing together.
Teacher will provide instruction, a slideshow and a YouTube video while students draw, to help expand the knowledge of descriptive writing using the sense of sight. Students will need several pieces of paper, a pen or pencil and crayons, markers or colored pencils to create their alien.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
