In this 1:1 class, students receive individualized help on this specific Algebra topic:  Solving equations involving fractions.

Learners in Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 practice problems such as the ones shown in the classroom image, above.

Students will find the least common multiple, distribute, combine like terms, add or subtract, and multiply or divide in order to solve each problem.

I'll walk them through the process step-by-step and teach them the sequence, so that they can use the same steps every time, as a sort of "checklist."

I use scaffolded instruction, which simply means that I provide more support at the beginning and gradually students work more and more independently with each new problem.  I provide guidance and feedback throughout the lesson.   

I'm a high school math teacher with a master’s degree in Education, and I specialize in working with students who struggle with math.
