Algebra Students: Let's Learn Equations With Variables on Both Sides

In this 1:1 class, students receive individualized help on this specific Algebra topic:  solving equations with variables on both sides.

Learners in Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 practice solving equations such as these:
-5x + 6 - 7 = -1 - 6x
5 - 7x = 1 - 8x
20 + 7x = -(4 - 6x) + 5x

These are often the most confusing types of equations for students to solve!

Learners distribute the coefficient, combine like terms, move variables to one side of the equation and constants to the opposite side, and solve for the variable.  

I'll walk them through the process step-by-step.

I use scaffolded instruction, which simply means that I provide more support at the beginning and gradually students work more and more independently with each new problem.  I provide guidance and feedback throughout the lesson.
