Confidence in math is crucial! This 3-day course will build each student's confidence in one of the most important Algebraic skills- solving equations! We will start with the basics of equations, discuss important vocabulary terms involved in Algebra, practice solving both one and two-step equations, and also learn how to determine if a solution makes an equation true by using the substitution method. When students have a solid foundation on equations, they will be set-up for success and sure...
Aside from learning all about Algebraic Equations, the students will learn to be confident as well. As a middle school math teacher, more often than not my students come to me at the beginning of the year thinking they are "not good" at math. My goal is to prove to them that this could not be further from the truth, and my students leave my class with a new outlook and positive relationship with math. Whether your child loves math, or does not have the best attitude about it, this course can either strengthen or change that. Once students learn to be confident in their mathematical skills, their attitudes change and they learn to approach challenges with determination rather than fear. While building confidence, it is so important to understand that mistakes are how we learn. We take our errors, analyze them, and learn from them to better ourselves. When students learn to do this, everything changes.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
