includedClass Experience
US Grade 8 - 11
In this seven-week class, students will be learning concepts that will be built on through their algebra journey. We will move quickly while still covering in-depth the mathematical concepts. This class is part 1 of 4 all about algebra. We will be talking about number operations, order of operations, factors, multiples, exponents, proportions, and percents. I will be teaching the concept, the learner(s) will practice the concept with me, and then I check for understanding. I make sure to allow time for questions or more practice for concepts that are more challenging. For each session, the learner will be given a homework sheet to complete on their own time. I will review the sheet at the beginning of each session. I highly recommend that a student has completed a pre-algebra or similar type class prior to taking these algebra classes. While part 1 is mainly concepts covered in a pre-algebra class, the class time is not spent teaching the basics. A weekly breakdown of concepts taught: Week 1: Integer Operations Week 2: Positive and Negative Fractions and Decimals Week 3: Exponents, Square Roots, and Order of Operations Week 4: Numbers, Number lines, and Functions Week 5: Factors, GCF, LCM, and Scientific Notation Week 6: Ratios, Proportions, and Percents Week 7: Catch-up and Review This class will move through the concepts quickly but thoroughly. I do have many other classes that teach these individual concepts that move a bit slower.
