This class prepares students to understand graphs of linear functions in algebra, including identification and interpretation of slopes, linear distances between points, and find midpoints of line segments, Upon completion of the class, learners will be prepared to work with point by point graphing of many different kinds of equations and use the graphs to better understand math relationships between input and output values of equations. Graphing is an absolute necessity to understand...
Students will completely understand how to compute, recognize, and interpret rate of change in an equation (slope) and use that information to apply and make judgements in real life situations. A deeper understanding of slope, distance, and midpoints allow students to go beyond simple memorization and use critical thinking to apply their learning in a multitude of other studies (science, business, economics, marketing, finance, etc)
all guided practice will occur during the class with assigned independent practice along with solutions.
assessment will be informal during class.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
