Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
The Pre-Algebra Review or Algebra Readiness course is designed to build students with the fundamentals to succeed in a high school Algebra 1 class.  The focus of this class will be build on a student's knowledge of pre-algebra content and improve their readiness for a high school Algebra 1.  Students will develop the ability to: explore and solve mathematical problems, think critically, work cooperatively with others, and communicate ideas clearly. Students will apply mathematical skills and make meaningful connections to life’s experiences. Students will also have access to practice problems through PearDeck, Nearpod, Playposit, Kahoot or Quizlet to name a few resources.

Students should expect to cover the following content:  

Week 1 - November 4:  Introductions, Class Expectations, Basis line assessment
              Topic: *Fluency with basic math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)

Week 2 - November 11: Warm-Up, Review of Class 1
              Topic: A solid understanding of fractions, percents, and decimals--and how they're all related

Week 3 - November 18: Warm-Up, Review of Class 2
              Topic: Ratio and proportion

Week 4 - November 25 Warm-Up, Review of Class 3
              Topic: Probability

Week 5 - December 2: Warm-Up, Review of Class 4
              Topic: Geometry formulas and vocabulary: perimeter, area, circumference, etc

Week 6 - December 9: Warm-Up, Review of Class 5
              Topic: Integers, the number line, and integer operations

Please note that this class is a review class for students who have already completed an Algebra Readiness course or Math 8 course. If you are interested in having your student complete a Pre-Algebra/Algebra Readiness course to learn material please message me. 

*LATE/MISSED CLASS POLICY*
All courses will begin on time as long as one learner is in the classroom. In the event that no students are in the classroom at the assigned class time, the teacher will leave a message on the discussion board and exit after 10 min. Class recordings are available upon request.
