Class Experience
Who is this class for? This class is for students who want to develop their understanding of basic algebra concepts. This could be students who have no experience of algebra, are just starting to learn (pre) algebra or those who have more experience but really struggle with basic algebra. Students will most likely be in year 6 or 7 (UK) or grade 5 or 6 (US/ international). What will be covered? The learning will focus on function machines - an important concept to master for those who are...
Students will increase in confidence in applying basic operations (add, subtract, multiply and divide) to algebraic variables (letters).
I have taught algebra, including function machines, to several year/grade 6 and 7 math classes both in the UK and internationally (this includes in school and online).
Students will need a pen/pencil and paper. A whiteboard and whiteboard pen would be useful but this is not essential.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
