This is a live experience class where the entire time is lecture and practice of algebra in real-world situtions. The students will interact with instruction, guided practice, group practice, and presentation skills. The goal is a performance target of 80% or higher. The student will be called on to help complete the guided practice and practice portion of the class. Students will be shown a problem on the whiteboard inside Zoom. From there, students will be shown how to complete the problem. Each class period we will practice the skill in the title of the class. Together I will instruct and the students will learn algebra skills. There are 5 classes in total and the classes meet everyday for one week. Here are the topics for each class: 1. Ratio and Proportion problems. 2. Motion problems 3. Rate-of-Work problems. 4. Mixture problems. 5. Money investment problems. The students will be instructed with one or more problems, shown and described, step-by-step, how to complete it. Students are encouraged to watch each other so the group can reach its target performance. I have individual classes of each one of these skills, so check them out if you choose only one skill to develop.
Learning Goals
The performance target is to have the students explain the test questions at 80% or higher.
