This class is the second of three trimesters offered to complete a full year of high school Algebra 2. The subsequent trimester will be offered as the school year progresses. Pre-requisite for this course is the successful completion of Algebra 1. In this course, students will build an understanding of the basics of quadratic, radical, inverses, exponential and logarithmic relations and functions as well as how to interpret the graphs of functions. In this course, students will build an understanding of the basics of quadratic, radical, inverses, exponential and logarithmic relations and functions as well as how to interpret the graphs of functions. At the end of this course, they will be ready to progress to the 3rd trimester of this 3 trimester sequence to complete a full year of high school Algebra 2.
Homework will be assigned after each class. It should take approximately 1 hour to complete homework after each class as we will be covering approximately one lesson per class.
Students will need to have a pencil, paper and a TI-84 calculator available for each class.
If you would like me to provide grades for your student, they will need to submit their homework, quizzes and tests to me throughout the course. Homework is due no later than one week after it is assigned. Please let me know at the beginning of the course if you would like me to provide grades.
2 hours 45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
I will be teaching from the McGraw-Hill Texas TEKS Algebra 2 textbook (ISBN: 978-0-02-139256-8) if you would like to purchase one for your student to utilize. Used textbooks can be found online via websites such as www.bookfinder.com. THE TEXTBOOK IS NOT REQUIRED. I will be providing content in class in addition to homework problems, quiz and test materials. ALL MATERIALS NEED FOR THIS COURSE WILL BE PROVIDED.
