This is the fourth quarter of Algebra 2. This course is rigorous and should only be taken by students who have successfully completed the prior three quarters of this course. This class is best for self-motivated students who like math and will work hard both in and outside of class. Students will expand upon the skills they learned in Algebra 1 & Geometry. Graphing calculators will be utilized (we will use Desmos.com) which is a free resource. We will study three units this quarter: Probability, Trigonometry, and Year-End Review Topics to be covered in Algebra 2: Quarter 4 Week 1: Factorials, Combinations, & Permutations Week 2: Theoretical & Conditional Probability, Frequency Tables Week 3: Measures of Central Tendency & Variance, Normal Curve Week 4: Z-Scores & Prob. Students will first see a detailed example before working problems with instructor guidance before solving problems on their own. The students will be given opportunities to try the skills in class with instructor guidance and then will practice on their own after class. Required homework will be assigned after each class session and will take approximately 45 minutes to complete daily (2-4 hours a week). Answer keys will be posted to the homework assignments so students may assess their own progress. Optional quizzes and tests will also be assigned throughout the course.
