Algebra 2 introduces students to several different types of problems and provides a variety of different problem solving skills. Algebra 2 is a great math class to help boost student's confidence as we work on these different types of problems which allows us to feel successful each time we conquer a new approach to problem solving. This course is one full year of Algebra 2. Class Structure + Topics - Lesson 1: Review of Order or Operations + Algebraic Expressions - Lesson 2: Equations +...
Algebra 2 teaches many different aspects of Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, and a bit of Pre-Calculus. We will first start with reviewing Algebra 1 with Algebraic Expressions to ensure our fundamentals and basic strategies are current. We will then work on Equations, Inequalities, introduce Functions, Linear Relations, Systems and Matrices, Complex Numbers, and Factoring Polynomials for the first half of the semester. For the second half of the semester, we will work on Radical Functions, Conic Sections, Rational Expressions, Exponential and Logarithmic Functions, Sequences and Series, Trigonometry, and touch on some Statistics and Probability.
With an Engineer Bachelor's Degree, I have both studied and worked as an Engineer in and out of the office. "When will I ever use this in real life?" is a question I hear frequently and I like to demonstrate how students will use the problem in real life and why it is important. I thoroughly enjoy teaching Algebra 2 as I like to bring as much "real life" situations into the class as possible, and I can do that with my Engineering background, with non-engineering everyday life situations, and with situations that high school students will be intrigued by.
