Algebra 1 Summer Camp (Full Curriculum, for Incoming 8-10th graders)

This course covers the most important Algebra topics and is designed to catch you up or move you ahead. Learn by a teacher with private and public school experience. Printable notes and worksheets are included!

What's included

3 live meetings
2 hrs 15 mins in-class hours per week
Assessment
After each lesson, students will be assessed informally through the student completing exit tickets individually. Progress will be shared with families and students are encouraged to try again if they did not master the skill.

Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 10
We will cover the following topics each week: 

 Week of 8/29 - 8/31: Quadratic Functions  
    8/29 - plotting points on a quadratic equation 
    8/30 - finding the vertex of a quadratic equation 
    8/31 -  Graphing a simple quadratic equation 

Each class students will receive a printable graphic organizer to learn the topics in an “I do, we do, you do” format. Then students complete practice problems followed by an exit ticket to show what they know.

To learn the most from this class prerequisite knowledge includes: Operating with negative numbers, simplifying expressions, solving multi-step equations, using the coordinate plane, writing the linear equation, solving systems of linear equations, and solving inequaities.

I have over a decade of experience working with youth through mentoring, working in special education, college-level tutoring, teaching English language learners and teaching gifted and talented students! 

I have spent four years working as a volunteer mentor with 6th through 10th grade students. While studying at University, I tutored fellow college students in statistics and psychology courses. I also have experience working in special education as a special education technician assisting reading and math instruction. Through my year-long pre-service teacher education program I taught 5th and 7th grade students in mathematics. As a classroom teacher in both public and private schools, I teach 6th grade general education mathematics, 6th grade mathematics for English Language Learners, and 7th grade gifted and talented mathematics.
