In this class, we will focus on the first half of the algebra 1 curriculum. Students will receive digital handouts of some assignments, while other assignments will be from websites such as Khan Academy. Live classes will be focus on explaining methods and individual and small group practice, including break-out groups. Students will understand and apply basic algebraic concepts to solve single-variable equations and inequalities and graph them.
Homework Offered
Students will be assigned independent study (homework) tasks on days the class doesn't have a live meeting. Students should return those assignments to the teacher by way of a private message attachment to receive feedback from the teacher. Independent study work should take 1-3 hours per week1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will receive feedback using a standards-based grading system for all independent study work they complete and return. Students will also receive informal feedback during live classes, both verbal and written (i.e, private chat messages on Zoom)Grades Offered
Students should have notebook, pencil, and a calculator that can do exponents and square roots. Students may choose to have manipulatives such as algebra tiles but these are not required.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
