Homework
1-2 hours per week. Each lesson is followed by an assignment that will help students to reinforce the concepts learned during class. Assignments due for the week are posted on the class announcement at the beginning of each week. All assignments are submitted electronically. Students receive feedback within 24 hrs of each submission.
Assessment
Each lesson is followed by a practice assignment. This assignment serves as a formative assessment that provides students with actionable data for families to identify which concepts to review. Assignments are completed independently and submitted electronically. Students receive automated feedback after each submission.

How long is this course?
This is an ongoing class. We meet twice per week. Each session is 30 minutes long. 

What will students learn in this course? 
This session supports students in mastering Algebra I without committing to a full semester. Students can select which classes to attend based on the topics provided. 

Can I enter this class at any time?
Students can join at any time. Be sure to see the topics that will be covered each week. 

I struggle in math, can I join this class? 
Absolutely! Remediating students in math is one of my specialties. 

How is this class structured?
I teach this class using a gradual release model:  “I do, we do, you do”. 
-Greetings and Review (5 min)
-I do: New instruction (10 min)
-We do: Interactive Guided practice (10 min)
-You do: Check for understanding ( 5 min)

Can I earn credit for this class?
Students who complete all of the topics listed below (and their assignments) can submit this documentation and apply for high school credit at their local school. Many schools also offer an option to test out of this class and place in other higher math courses.

About the instructor
I come to you with over 15 years of experience in STEM education. I am a certified educator in 6 different States. I hold a Bachelor's Degree of Science with distinguished honors. In addition, I hold a Masters Degree Science Education and Doctorate of Philosophy in Teaching Learning and Culture with a specialization in Science and Mathematics Education. You never stop learning! 
I became a teacher by choice. Teaching young minds has been one of the best things that has happened to me. I love to learn as much as I love to teach!

Assessments:
Students are assessed formatively via class discussions and assignments. No summative assessments are given to students.

You need three things for this class: a notebook, a scientific calculator, and a pencil. Dr. V. will provide you with access to readings, slide decks, vocabulary lists, and practice problems after each class. 

Who normally takes this class?
Algebra I is a required class for any high school student. However, it can be completed as early as middle school.
