Is learning in the classroom difficult, and your student would benefit from a comfortable, one-on-one approach? Or maybe your learner is advanced with a desire to tackle a new challenge? Or even a homeschool family (like mine) that needs an opportunity to build foundational algebra skills with a tutor. You've come to the right place! During this course, the student will set the pace for their Algebra 1 learning! We will begin the course by meeting the learner where he/she is currently performing. We will work together to understand all aspects of Algebra 1 and master them fluently. When joining this course, students will be assessed to determine which unit best matches their level of understanding. I will then create an individualized plan for the learner, designed to match their learning style, pace, and availability. Topics to be Mastered in this Algebra 1 course: 1- Foundations of Algebra 2- Equations & Inequalities 3- Relations & Functions 4- Linear Equations 5- Systems (Equations & Inequalities) 6- Exponential Functions 7- Polynomials & Factoring 8- Quadratic Equations 9- Linear, Quadratic, & Exponential Functions 10- Statistics I have worked in the classroom for 7 years and have taught all types of neurodivergent learners. Also, as a homeschool mom, I understand the need for flexibility. We can create the class best designed to meet you and your child's needs. This can include activities to be completed outside of the designated meeting time for additional practice or to advance more rapidly through the course. If you need specific requirements or accommodations for your learner, please message me! I am eager to work with you and meet your learning needs!
Learning Goals
Honestly, the learning goal for this course is to understand and master Algebra 1, while feeling capable and successful. I approach each child as I would want my own child to be taught: with knowledge, patience, and excitement. A child learns best in an environment they can thrive in, and it is my intention to create that environment for every student. Math can be fun, and I do my best to make it that way!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Mississippi Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hey there! I'm Deborah, and I love to teach! Math is my greatest passion, and I have taught it both publicly and privately for 7 years. I am qualified and fluent in math from preschool to high school geometry. I currently homeschool my daughters with a hands-on learning approach. I chose to take this time while they were young to cultivate a deep love of learning, and to experience education outside of a classroom. My philosophy is that a child will achieve anything if they can have fun learning about it. I take a relational approach and cultivate an environment where children feel comfortable to explore and ask questions. I hope my classes create a fun, safe place for your little one to learn!
