This course will cover major concepts of Algebra 1. We willl meet live, 3 times per week to make sure we have time for practice and questions in an interactive environment. I always say my classroom is a no fear zone. "I don't know" is a perfectly acceptable answer, and incorrect answers are a wonderful opportunity to talk about it some more. I have Master's in Math Education from Western Governor's University, a Bachelor of Science in Education from Tennessee Technological University, and a teaching license from the State of Tennessee. I have 2 years teaching in a classroom. I also homeschooled my children for 9 years. My experience includes professionally tutoring Math for 12 years and 5 years as an Academic Math Coach at Pellissippi State Community College. I have over 7 years experience tutoring students for the ACT Test in all 4 content areas - English, Math, Reading, Science.
Homework Offered
Homework sheets will be provided to reinforce concepts covered in class. Students will check their own answers. Any missed questions can be the basis for questions during the next class period, or the student can message me with their questions about the homework.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class

Pre-algebra is a prerequisite for this Algebra I course. Also, proficency with fractions and decimals will make your student's life easier. If they struggle with fractions or decimals, I may recommend supplemental practice.
Paper and pencils Print Notes sheets and Homework sheets to be used during class. Calculator (Graphing calculator if Algebra or higher - highly recommend TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition) White boards, markers and erasers are helpful, but not required. Smiles are helpful, too!
