This is a 9 week course equivalent to a 3rd Quarter of Algebra 1.This class comes after my 2nd Quarter Class. This class will be intense and in depth and will provide a necessary thorough foundation for students who complete it.

In this class, students will be taught Algebra 1. In this 3rd Quarter of the school year, we will cover the following topics: Polynomials, Factoring, Quadratic Equations, and Displaying Data. The class will be structured so that each topic is a unit of learning. The class will begin with a opening activity, review of homework questions, then a lecture or skill building activity, and finally a lesson closer. I will teach using a combination of guided notes and Powerpoints using the zoom/Outschool platform. My teaching style is a combination of direct instruction, peer to peer interaction, and student discussion. Students will interact with me, the teacher, through the following mediums: lecture, games, slides, video clips, projects, and discussion. Student should have passed Pre Algebra or Math 8 before taking this class. Students will be assigned practice problems, worksheets, reflections, or activity links on websites like Quizlet and Quizizz to build math fluency. This class will be in depth and challenging. It is especially recommended for students who plan to major in stem fields or who will be taking Honors or an Advanced corequisite in the next school year. I have taught Algebra 1 for the past 5 years and it is definitely one of my most enjoyable classes. Unit 1 - Polynomials - Weeks 1-2 Unit 2 - Factoring - Weeks 3-4 .Unit 3 - Quadratic Equations - Weeks 5-7 .Unit 4 - Displaying Data - Weeks 8-9 **** One week of class we will have class on a Friday. That Friday is January 20, 2023
