Looking for an Algebra 1 class where your learner will be an active participant in their own learning? Well, look no further! This will be a highly interactive class where learners participate throughout the entire class, in the way that they personally feel comfortable doing so. At Mind over Math, we believe that every learner should be given the opportunity to participate in ways that feel comfortable for them and promote learning and understanding, for their own individual learning style. Our classes are set up in such a way that does exactly that! We will be using the following learning tools during class: - Nearpod: an interactive learning tool that provides the teacher with real-time insights into student understanding through interactive lessons and activities - Blooket: an exciting new take on the modern classroom review game. It aims to match action with education to create the ultimate learning experience! The class is taught with the following structure: The teacher explains the concepts and discusses them with learners, presents an example, then after each example the teacher presents, the learners get a turn to try their own example on Nearpod. Once the teacher sees that learners have completed the example on Nearpod, they come back together as a group to take up the problem. They continue to go back and forth in this way for the duration of class, so that learners are always given the opportunity to try every concept learned on their own. Learners can participate by asking and answering questions out loud, through the chat, or by simply participating individually on Nearpod – however they feel comfortable and learn best. Blooket games will also be incorporated throughout the classes to consolidate learning, while having fun! Learners will be assigned practice problems weekly for homework in order to consolidate their learning.
