Although the hit broadway musical, "Hamilton" has introduced us to many of the people that made an impact on the life of Alexander Hamilton, the relationships that are portrayed are surface level. Alexander Hamilton worked deeply with many of the men portrayed in the play, including his "arch nemesis" in the play, Aaron Burr. This 6-week course will take an in-depth look at the relationships between Alexander and six key people in his life: John Laurens, Hercules Mulligan, Marquis de...
Students will have a deeper understanding of six different men in history and how their lives intertwined with Alexander Hamilton and changed the course of America forever.
I have a degree in sociology which has allowed me to look at the lives of people in a different way. The events that take place during a person's life have a huge impact on them and how they react. In this class, we will look at the relationships that Alexander had with each of these men and see how their actions affected Alexander in his life and ultimately, how it changed the course of America.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
It has been said that John Laurens had more than just a friendship with Alexander Hamilton. While it is not my intention to teach this subject, many fans of "Hamilton" are aware that there could have been a more personal and maybe even physical relationship between the two men. As I mentioned, it is not my intention to teach on this matter, but there is the possibility that a student may bring this up. I will touch on the topic, if it is mentioned, and then move on.
