Ahoy Pirates! Singing & Story Time
What's included
1 live meeting
30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This is a preschool music and story time class in a print rich and prop filled environment on a pirate theme. In this class we'll use our imaginations and do some dramatic playing. Students are encouraged to bring to class anything pirate related they may have. They may also come to the class dressed like a pirate if they choose to do so. The teacher will be wearing some pirate things as well. We will start with a welcome and we'll greet each other by our pirate names. Students will have a chance to show and tell about something pirate related, like what they're wearing or a toy or book. Then we'll sing a 'hello' song. I will introduce the story which will be on Vooks, so it will be on the screen so everyone will see it clearly. During the story, I will ask questions and have the students make predictions about what they think will happen. Then after the story, we'll get on our feet and sing a song about being a pirate and sailing on a ship and we'll move our bodies. To close the class, I'll teach the students a simple 'goodbye' song, and the students will echo each line.
Learning Goals
This class will strengthen social/emotional development, reading comprehension skills, coordination and large motor development. It will increase creativity and imagination and allow for self-expression. Joyful shared reading experiences are the foundation for all future learning, and singing together improves and enhances language development and school readiness.
