Description

Class Experience

In this multi-day class we will learn about landforms, including mountains, rivers, hills, plateaus, waterfalls, canyons, islands, jungles, and deserts.  We will also learn map skills, such as making a compass rose, map key, map scale, and map grid.  We will create an authentic-looking map that is perfect for displaying on the wall or burying in the yard!

Day 1:  We'll learn about landforms and create a compass rose. We'll start making our map.
Day 2:  We'll create a map key and map scale. ...

I have been an elementary teacher for 18 years, covering social studies topics ranging from our local community to world explorers.  My academic background includes a major in liberal arts and a minor in history.  For the last 18 years, I have created and taught social studies lessons that are engaging and fun.

brown paper bag (The smaller lunch sacks will work, but the larger grocery size makes for a better map because it's thicker.)
