Description
Class Experience
Puzzles can be used to teach a variety of topics in an engaging and entertaining way. In engineering, Toy Problems - idealized puzzles - are often used to introduce real world problems in probability, statistics, and optimization. In this critical thinking workshop students will be introduced to classic brainteasers like the Towers of Hanoi and the Seven Bridges of Konigsberg. We will also look at probability problems, lateral thinking puzzles, paradoxes and logical fallacies. Whenever...
The goal of these sessions will be to teach students that there are tried and true techniques that can be used to approach most puzzles or problems. Some of those techniques include the Rule of Thumb, the educated guess, the estimate, grid creation, puzzle diagramming, and sketching.
