Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
Nita Stone teaches this 12-unit flexible schedule course that introduces the science of Agriculture and its importance. Discover how farming and ranching help each of us and learn to appreciate these workers. Did you know that you can “farm” at home? If you raise chickens, rabbits, cows, sheep, goats, or pigs you are farming. Do you and your family have a vegetable garden in your yard? You’re farming. You can even raise some vegetables and fruits in a container or pot.
It is important to know that in the United States you must sell $1000 of product per year to be considered a farmer. You can do this if you have a big enough garden or have chickens and sell the eggs.
This course will consist of reading passages, quizzes, assignments with reports, and projects with reports. Students will have access to the course for 18 weeks. If you should need more time email me at nitateaching@gmail.com and I can extend the course time.

You will be assigned two projects. You have 7 choices for the projects. Projects can be turned in early if completed.
The project choices are:
Food Science for a Day
Recycled Seed Paper
Caring for Livestock
Herb Gardening
Desktop Greenhouses
