In this one time class, students will hear and see the retelling of the Aesop fable "The Lion and the Mouse" acted out with props. They will use their social skills and critical thinking skills in order to answer questions about the story.
Class experience
In this one time class, I will bring the Aesop fable "The Lion and the mouse" to life by retelling and acting it out with props. Students will practice their social skills and critical thinking skills while they are asked several questions about the story. Students will be asked to list the characters's physical characteristics, and define their skills or strengths. We will discuss how the characters felt and why they felt that way. Students will walk away from class with a better understanding that everyone has something to contribute regardless of size, gender, or skin color. They will learn about the benefits of an unlikely friendship. They will practice listening, taking turns, and recalling the story in order to answer questions.
I have a Master's of Social Work degree with a concentration in Community Organizing. I have a Bachelors of Science degree with a major in Human Development and Family Studies. I hold certificates in child youth and family services, diversity, leadership, and conflict resolution. My nieces, nephews, and 4 year old daughter love it when I act out different stories. I have over 5 years paid experience working with children in person and online.
Students are welcomed to bring a lion or mouse to class, but they are not required to.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
