In this ongoing course, we'll practice basic kitchen skills to create simple recipes that kids can make on their own (or with minimal supervision) using easy-to-find ingredients. Each week, while preparing our recipe, we will focus on a different kitchen or cooking skill that will help prepare them for independence in the kitchen. Here's what's on the menu: Week of September 14: Soft-Baked Pretzels Featured Skill: Working with Yeast Week of September 21: Fruit & Yogurt Parfaits Featured...
While there won't be any homework, some recipes may require ingredients to be pre-measured before class. I will always include this information in the classroom the night before class to allow for adequate time to prepare.
I will post the ingredient/supply list in the classroom the Friday before each class.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
While many cooking skills can be taught through online instruction, parents/guardians are best to determine their child's comfort and skill in the kitchen. My goal is to build upon what they already know...safely. If you have any questions about whether your child's skill level is appropriate for a particular class, don't hesitate to reach out. *Recipes for this course are designed for younger learners (age 8-12) in mind. However, some will require the use of the oven or sharp tools (We will use plastic or butter knives only). Parental guidance is suggested for these portions of the class. *As you will be responsible for providing ingredients for this class, please be sure to check all food label ingredients for potential allergens.
