Learners will learn and train Afro dance once a week. They will learn popular trending dances, which countries they come from and they’ll be made aware of current and past changes in Africa related to dance. In the beginning of the class we will warm up to fun Afro Dance music for at least 10 minutes of the class. Next we will do our “Step of the Day” for another 10 minutes. Each class meeting they’ll learn a new step. Third, they’ll learn the monthly choreography. Each month learners learn a new Choreography relating to current trends, holidays and more. At the end of each month we collaborate to create a video visual for our Choreography of the month with costumes and props. Learners do not need to be a part of the video visual, they can just dance and show up to the final day of the month in the costume discussed during class. No past experience is needed, although it is a plus.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Conkrete Jungle Productions Inc. is a performing arts non- profit incorporation that allows and offers underground artists in the Tri-state area a space to showcase their work and grow as an artist. Conkrete Jungle was founded August 2015 by an artist-dancer, Régine Bellinger from Brooklyn, New York and co-developed by Artistic Director Marcel March from Rockland, New York. Bellinger and March saw that there wasn't a space for underground Choreographers and Dancers to be accepted as they are. Oftentimes artists are type-casted, which is the normalcy of the industry, but we wanted to challenge that by hosting an annual Choreographers Showcase presenting raw and underground talent. We created the Virtual Dance School through Outschool to teach Afro Dance & Afro Latin Dance by professional dancers from New York's performing arts industry. We host virtual showcases for your little ones throughout the year on Outschool & get them geared & ready to enter the performing arts community!
